Do it…. I dare You.

I hope you enjoy reading these blogs, they allow me to literally rant on about something for 300 words, but you have the patience to sit there and read through my dodgy opinions and some research that I have done on Transmedia and Snapchat fused together to make a beautiful creation I like to call blog post number seven.

“Transmedia storytelling represents a process where integral elements of a fiction gets dispersed systematically across multiple delivery channels for the purpose of creating a unified and coordinated entertainment experience.” – Henry Jenkins. Okay now that we’ve gotten that quote out of the way lets look at how Snapchat is possibly capable of supplying distribution channels that would contribute meaningfully to a transmedia narrative.  It is through this transmedia storytelling that audiences are able to heighten their understanding and love for a narrative and the ability for audiences to engage with the media.

Unfortunately Snapchat the application is yet to experience transmedia story telling however Snapchat has created a way for users to upload there content in a narrative style under the feature ‘my story’. Usually it is a collection of drunken videos taken from a night out, a various compilation of songs they listened to in the car or even just some videos of their day at work/university.  Snapchat is more of an inside joke between friends that will be able to understand the context and less of a global entertaining fictional platform. However occasionally a Snapchat screen shot will make it to Facebook or Tumblr, probably depending on how ‘munted’ someone’s face looked, or maybe it was just a priceless moment that needed to be shared further than just Snapchat but apart from that it remains mainly a single platform application. However add me on Snapchat and follow my story to be up to date with my daily lifestyle, do it… I dare you.
